Year 2 visit to the Bear Factory
June 19th was an exciting day for year 2- a trip to Build a Bear Factory in Southampton to make a new Fawley Bear. Once we saw all the cuddly new bears we couldn’t resist buying not just one new bear, but two new bears to replace our rather old, much loved and well travelled Old Fawley bear. After a lovely morning, where all the children had a very important role to play in building and naming the new bears we returned to school with Max and Milly, complete with holiday clothes and a back pack ready to start their adventures with the children at Fawley school. ( Max has already been camping in Bashley and had a very exciting trip to France!)Thank you to the FFSA for funding the new Bears.
If your child would like to take a bear on holiday please talk to Mrs Harbottle to find out if they are free (they have a very busy schedule! )Sports Day – Friday May 22nd 2009
| Again we were fortunate enough to have not only a fine day but a successful sports day. The children enjoyed all their races and the sense of team spirit which Sports day brings. |

The unexpected arrival of snow didn’t stop the children participating in an action packed week! Aerobics each morning got their hearts pumping and brains energised.
The healthy lunch on Wednesday was a big success with many parents joining their children to enjoy roast beef or tasty curry.
Sponsored Jump rope mid week had the whole school school skipping in the hall throughout the afternoon - and most playtimes since then! We raised……………. For the British heart Foundation and School- well done to all the children for taking part.
Healthy hearts and bodies was the theme for Thursday with visits from the school nurse and health visitor to talk about careful hand washing and healthy eating and exercise.
Friday was picnic day! The morning was spent preparing delicious pizza, fruit K babs and sandwiches. A University Healthy Challenge Quiz was enjoyed by the whole school in the afternoon followed by the healthy picnic.
Throughout the week the children planned healthy menus, talked about favourite fruits and vegetables, designed posters, composed poetry and created art work with potatoes, collage and batik.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the activities during the week- the healthy recipe book is still on sale and well done to all the children who kept a healthy diary for the week!
Family Challenge
Last terms learning unit ‘3 2 1 Blast-off!’ inspired both children and families to enter into our competition to design and make a space vehicle. The response was amazing and our judges from Fawley Power Station had very a difficult task choosing the winning entries. Entries ranged from simple bottle space rockets to remote controlled buggies- all fantastic! The highlight of the afternoon was definitely the rocket launch in the school field- Well done to all the children and families who took part!
