Snowy Days at Fawley

We had just returned from the Christmas holiday when the weather turned cold and we had snow – lots of snow! It was a wonderful opportunity to make snowmen, snowballs, snow angels and even a snow dog. Back in class, children drew chalk pictures, wrote a snow story and poems.

Keeping Healthy!
In November 2009 our Reception children had a surprise visitor. Sportacus came from Lazy Town to see them to find out if they were eating enough sports candy and keeping fit. He told them how to exercise and promised to return in three weeks to find out how they had improved.
They found Sportacus’ website, and practised his exercises every day. They learnt which foods were good for them, and which ones should be treats. At home, they designed their own fitness programmes and brought them into school to share with others. Some children made videos, some took photos and some drew pictures to make a display.
On Thursday, 19th November, we had “Tracksuit Day” to raise money for Children in Need, and Reception children taught the rest of the school their routines. This helped them prepare for Sportacus’ return the next day.
The children invited their parents in to meet Sportacus, who was very impressed with their healthy eating and their exercise routines.
Year 2 visit to the Bear Factory
June 19th was an exciting day for year 2- a trip to Build a Bear Factory in Southampton to make a new Fawley Bear. Once we saw all the cuddly new bears we couldn’t resist buying not just one new bear, but two new bears to replace our rather old, much loved and well travelled Old Fawley bear. After a lovely morning, where all the children had a very important role to play in building and naming the new bears we returned to school with Max and Milly, complete with holiday clothes and a back pack ready to start their adventures with the children at Fawley school. ( Max has already been camping in Bashley and had a very exciting trip to France!)
Thank you to the FFSA for funding the new Bears.
If your child would like to take a bear on holiday please talk to Mrs Harbottle to find out if they are free (they have a very busy schedule! )
